The Balvenie from Speyside is known for its traditional whisky production with its own malting floor, cooperage, and long maturation period. With the "Stories Series", the distillery tells special chapters of its history – and this bottling, “The Sweet Toast of American Oak”, is the first chapter.
The whisky was developed by Apprentice Malt Master Kelsey McKechnie. For maturation, virgin American oak casks were used, which were heavily toasted beforehand – meaning heated over an open flame to release sweet vanilla and caramel aromas. The whisky first matured in ex-Bourbon casks before receiving a finish in these fresh virgin oak casks.
