The Sherry Cask Edition from Tamnavulin is a so-called NAS (No Age Statement) whisky. However, what it lacks in years of maturation on the label, it makes up for with a remarkably intense interplay of aromas.
The Speysider was first matured in American ex-Bourbon casks and then finished in three different types of sherry casks. Exactly which ones remain a small secret – but Oloroso and Pedro Ximénez would be obvious candidates.
Tasting Notes
Nose: Sweet and fruity with notes of green apple, pear, and dried apricot. Additionally, hints of vanilla, soft oak, and a touch of milk chocolate.
Palate: Smooth and creamy with aromas of tropical fruits, toffee, and raisins. Also, vanilla pudding, toasted almonds, and a subtle touch of spicy ginger.
Finish: Medium-long, velvety, and fruit-driven with notes of ripe stone fruit, delicate caramel, and fine oak spice.
