The Tamnavulin Double Cask does not have an age statement, but what counts is in the glass: a fruity and harmoniously matured Speysider, which matured in ex-Bourbon barrels made of American white oak and then received a finish in noble Sherry casks from Spain.
The whisky was released in 2016 to mark the distillery's 50th anniversary and has been a permanent part of the range ever since – to the delight of all fans of smooth, fruit-forward single malts.
Tasting Notes
Nose: Rich, multifaceted aromas of toasted almonds, toffee and sweet honey. These are joined by impressions of stewed apples, marmalade and delicate marzipan.
Palate: Soft and round with an explosion of tropical fruits such as peach, pineapple and pear. A creamy vanilla note, sweet oak and delicate cane sugar provide depth and balance.
Finish: Medium-long, silky smooth and well-balanced. Fruit, sherry and spicy-sweet woody notes harmoniously round off the finish.
