The Talisker distillery is located on the Isle of Skye. It makes sense, therefore, to name a whisky after it.

The Skye matured in refill American Oak casks and in toasted American Oak casks.

Tasting 1

Appearance: Pale 18-carat gold with polished copper. Nose: Initially mild with a delightful citrus sweetness of fresh oranges. With the addition of a splash of water, it becomes less spicy and smoky, but the aromas remain maritime. Medium-bodied with a soft texture. Palate: Soft and sweet with very light smoke. Tasting 2

Nose: Rich aromas of stewed apples and pear, with treacle toffee and hints of marzipan. Subtly smoky notes that dissipate after a while, leaving scents of smoked meat and liquorice. Far more accessible than the 10-year-old. Palate: Oh yes, here you can recognize the Talisker character more readily... typical punches of black pepper and smoke, plus stone fruit and a rich, mouth-filling texture. Finish: Short with smoky notes that outlast the fruit. Rating: Like the 10-year-old Talisker's little brother, a baby Talisker that wants to be taken seriously, even if it doesn't have the strength of its older brother.
