Port Charlotte is produced at the Bruichladdich Distillery on the Scottish Isle of Islay, a region renowned worldwide for its heavily peated whiskies. The distillery is known for its artisanal production and traditional methods. Port Charlotte whiskies are famous for their intense smoky aromas and the typical maritime note, influenced by Islay's unique climate.

The 2012 Port Charlotte Heavily Peated SC:01 matured in a combination of American oak casks and Sauternes wine casks. This special combination ensures a balance between intense peat smoke notes and the sweet fruitiness of Sauternes.

Tasting Notes

Aroma: The nose is dominated by rich peat smoke notes, accompanied by sweet vanilla, honey, and fruity notes of peach and apricot.

Taste: On the palate, intense aromas of smoke and sweet fruitiness unfold. Notes of ripe yellow fruits, creamy vanilla, and a subtle spice.

Finish: The finish is long and warm, with lingering peat smoke, sweet fruit notes, and a pleasant spicy oak note.
