The Old Pulteney Distillery was founded in 1826 by James Henderson in Wick, a place once known as the "herring capital of Europe." The immediate proximity to the sea and the salty sea air shape the whisky's unmistakable style and make it Scotland's most famous "Maritime Single Malt." The distillery's name harks back to Sir William Johnstone Pulteney, then director of the British Fisheries Society.

The Old Pulteney Coastal Series Port first matured in ex-Bourbon casks before receiving a final finish in aromatic Port wine casks from the Douro Valley. This combination gives the whisky its characteristic depth and complexity, with aromas of sultanas, vanilla butter, and a maritime freshness.

Tasting Notes

Nose: Intense aromas of sultanas, vanilla butter, and candied orange, accompanied by notes of marzipan, cherry, and cinnamon. The nose is rich and inviting.

Palate: On the palate, the whisky presents itself sweet and spicy with notes of baked apple, caramel, and cinnamon buns. Vanilla custard with a hint of rosewater and a typically maritime, mineral note round off the taste experience.
