The Old Pulteney Distillery was founded in 1826 by James Henderson in Wick, once known as the "Herring Capital of Europe." Its close proximity to the sea and the salty sea air shape the distinctive style of the whisky, making it Scotland's most famous "Maritime Single Malt." The distillery's name harks back to Sir William Johnstone Pulteney, then director of the British Fisheries Society.

The Old Pulteney 15 Years was initially matured in Second Fill American Oak casks (ex-Bourbon Casks) and subsequently in First Fill Spanish ex-Oloroso butts. This double maturation gives the whisky its characteristic depth and complexity, with aromas of dried fruits, honey, and a maritime freshness.

Tasting Notes
