The Mortlach 12 Year Old, also known as "The Wee Witchie," offers whisky lovers a unique entry into the craftsmanship of the Mortlach distillery. Available since 2018 in a new, more affordable series, this single malt was matured in both ex-sherry and ex-bourbon casks. What makes the Mortlach 12 special is the characteristic distillation process developed by Alexander Cowie at the end of the 19th century: a 2.81-fold distillation through six individually shaped stills gives this whisky its unmistakable, robust character, earning Mortlach the moniker "Beast of Dufftown."

This single malt is ideal for connoisseurs and newcomers alike who want to discover Mortlach's powerful and muscular house style. A whisky that impresses with its complexity and intensity.

Tasting Notes

Nose: An intense woody note, combining with sweet hints of raisins and fruit jam, accompanied by warm spices and toffee. Delicate hints of ginger and chocolate give the bouquet a special depth.

Palate: On the palate, the Mortlach 12 is spicy and sweet at the same time, dominated by brown sugar and chocolate. Notes of cherry jam and a hint of tobacco complete the complex taste experience.

Finish: The finish is rich and long-lasting, characterized by a pleasant dryness and soft plum notes, accompanied by gentle vanilla and fruity nuances.
