Lochlea Distillery, nestled in the idyllic landscape of Ayrshire, Scotland, proudly presents the Lochlea Harvest Edition 2nd Crop Single Malt Whisky. The barley used to make the whisky comes directly from their own farm, allowing for exceptional control over the entire production process.
This year's Harvest Edition offers a delicious variation, combining whisky from Port wine casks, STR barriques, and first-fill Bourbon casks. The STR barriques, whose inner wood layer has been thinly shaved, toasted, and re-charred (STR stands for "scraped" or "shaved," "toasted," "recharred"), lend the whisky a wonderfully peppery spice. The significantly higher proportion of Port wine casks also enhances the whisky's creaminess.
Tasting Notes:
Aroma: The first impression is characterized by dates, ripe red grapes, and marmalade.
Taste: On the palate, notes of dried fruit and a slight hint of peppercorns unfold.
Finish: The finish is long-lasting and creamy.
