Now the core release of Lochlea's farm distillates is here – Lochlea Our Barley.
It is the result of a perfected cask recipe and a blind tasting with the distillery team. Our Our Barley Scotch Whisky from the Lowlands matures in a sophisticated combination of first-fill Bourbon barrels, Oloroso Sherry butts and STR barriques – meaning "scraped" or "shaved," "toasted" or "recharred" wine casks.
At an ideal drinking strength of 46% vol., the whisky leads from pear syrup and fruit drops on the nose, over fresh fruits and cereal notes on the palate, to macadamia nuts and orange beeswax.
The Scottish distillery landscape has recently gained another independent, family-run farm distillery with Lochlea. John Campbell, the former Laphroaig Distillery Manager and current Lochlea Production Director and Master Blender, is responsible for the unmistakable style of the single malt. The whisky is made exclusively from barley grown on the estate, distilled and matured on site. From field to bottle, the Lochlea Single Malt is thus traceable - true to the distillery's motto: "Dare to be honest".
