The Loch Lomond Peated Rioja Cask Finish is a characterful Highland Single Malt from the Loch Lomond Distillery. The distillery is known for its versatile production and the use of different distillation methods, resulting in a wide range of flavor styles. This bottling combines a peated Loch Lomond Single Malt with a special Rioja red wine cask finish, which adds extra fruitiness and depth to the whisky.
The whisky first matured in American oak casks before receiving a finish in Spanish Rioja red wine casks. This combination brings together the classic vanilla sweetness and maltiness of bourbon casks with the fruity and slightly spicy notes of the Rioja wine casks.
Aroma: Smoky peat notes with red berries, vanilla, caramel and a hint of spice.
Taste: Smooth and balanced with sweet malt, fruity notes of cherries and plums, slight smokiness and gentle oak.
Finish: Medium length, warm and fruity with subtle smoke and fine spice.
