The Lagavulin 8 Years Old is a powerful yet lively Islay Single Malt from the traditional Lagavulin Distillery. The bottling was originally introduced to mark the distillery's 200th anniversary and has quickly become a permanent part of the range. Bottled at 48% vol., this whisky showcases the typical Lagavulin style in a young, particularly intense form.
The whisky matured predominantly in American ex-bourbon oak casks. This type of cask supports the smoky peatiness of the distillate and simultaneously brings vanilla, malty sweetness, and light fruit notes to the aroma profile.
Aroma: Strong peat smoke, citrus fruits, maritime notes, vanilla, and a slight sweetness.
Taste: Intense and clearly structured with smoky malt, black pepper, citrus, sweet caramel, and a salty sea note.
Finish: Long, dry, and smoky with lingering spice and maritime depth.
