The Kilchoman 100% Islay – 15th Edition is a special bottling from the farm distillery Kilchoman on the Scottish island of Islay. The "100% Islay" series stands for complete self-production – from the barley grown, through malting, to distillation and maturation directly on site. This edition impressively showcases the distillery's artisanal approach, combining intense smokiness with fruity depth. Bottled at 50% ABV, non-chill filtered and natural color.
The 15th Edition matured in a combination of Bourbon casks and Oloroso Sherry casks. The Bourbon casks contribute vanilla, citrus, and malty sweetness, while the Sherry casks provide dark fruits, spice, and additional depth. The interplay results in a complex and well-balanced Islay character.
Aroma: Fresh peat smoke, citrus fruits, vanilla, caramel, and slight maritime notes.
Taste: Full-bodied with smoky malt, sweet toffee, ripe fruits, spices, and fine oak spice.
Finish: Long, smoky, and balanced with sweet fruit, spicy notes, and lingering peat.
