The Isle of Raasay "The Draam" Lightly Peated is a modern single malt from the young Raasay Distillery on the island of the same name off the west coast of Scotland. The distillery is known for innovative approaches, combining traditional craftsmanship with experimental cask maturation. This bottling showcases a lightly peated style that harmoniously blends smoke, fruit, and spice. Bottled at 46.4% vol., non-chill filtered and natural color.
The whisky matured in a carefully selected combination of Rye whiskey casks, fresh Chinkapin oak casks, and Bordeaux red wine casks. This unusual cask combination creates a complex aroma profile of spicy sweetness, fruitiness, and a delicate oak structure.
Aroma: Light smoke, red berries, vanilla, spices, and a hint of caramel.
Taste: Round and complex with sweet malt, peppery spice, fruity notes, light peatiness, and a delicate woody note.
Finish: Medium-long, warm, and balanced with gentle smokiness, fruity sweetness, and spicy depth.
