The Highland Park 16 Years Old – Sea of Orkney is a fully matured single malt from the traditional Highland Park Distillery on the Orkney Islands. This edition showcases the distillery's typical style: a balanced blend of sweet fruitiness, spicy wood, and a subtle, maritime peat note that reflects the island's rugged environment. Bottled at 44.5% vol., this whisky is powerful yet harmonious in expression.
The maturation took place in a combination of American ex-bourbon casks and some sherry-seasoned European oak casks, which gives the whisky depth, complexity, and a rich aromatic profile. The bourbon casks contribute bright vanilla and fruit notes, while the sherry casks add warm, nutty, and spicy accents.
Nose: Scent of heather honey, vanilla, ripe citrus and stone fruits, as well as light peat and sea air.
Palate: Full-bodied with notes of toffee, dried fruits, spices, dark chocolate, and gentle woody spice. The maritime salt note rounds off the profile.
Finish: Long, warm and elegant with lingering sweetness, fine spice, and a hint of smoke.
