The Springbank Distillery, a jewel of whisky production, is one of the few remaining distilleries in Campbeltown, Scotland, renowned for its authenticity and independent operation.
The Hazelburn 15 Year Old Oloroso Cask Matured is matured 100% in Oloroso sherry casks. This gives this single malt exceptional depth and complexity. The casks highlight the unique characteristics of Hazelburn, which is unpeated and triple distilled, resulting in a particularly fine and mild spirit.
The 15-year maturation in these high-quality casks allows for a complete integration of the distillate with the rich, fruity, and nutty notes of the Oloroso, leading to an exceptionally full-bodied dram.
Tasting Notes:
Nose: Notes of cherry menthol, red cola, date syrup, and Black Forest gâteau greet us in this 100% Oloroso-matured Hazelburn. Soft fondant and caramel notes develop over time.
Palate: Rich yet balanced on the palate, with notes of toffee apple, leather-bound books, Demerara sugar, and Crème brûlée.
Finish: Long-lasting finish with notes of rum-soaked raisins and vanilla sponge cake.
