Glen Scotia Icons of Campbeltown Release No.2 "St. Michael"
The Icons of Campbeltown series celebrates the unwavering community spirit that has sustained Glen Scotia throughout history.
Inspired by Campbeltown's historic market cross – a gathering place for celebrations and storytelling – each edition takes up a local legend carved into the stone of the cross.
The second release in this exclusive series honors St. Michael, who, aided by an army of helpers, defeats a fire-breathing dragon.
This story reflects the fighting spirit of the Campbeltown community, which had to battle devastating fires multiple times during the Victorian heyday of whisky production.
On December 17, 1899, Glen Scotia and heroic community members saved the Dalintober Distillery from the flames – a testament to the town's unwavering solidarity.
In honor of this legend, our Master Blender has selected a 14-year-old single malt with a medium peat content. After a six-month finishing period in former Barolo red wine casks, a whisky full of fiery red fruit aromas emerged.
Tasting Notes:
Nose: Smoky notes meet fruity sweetness.
Palate: Complex layers of red fruits, spices, and a subtle maritime salinity.
Finish: Long-lasting with a perfect balance of smoke and fruit.
This limited bottling is unmistakably a Glen Scotia – characterful, multi-layered, and with a pinch of sea breeze. It embodies not only the spirit of a legend but also the indomitable will of a community that defies all odds.
