Craigellachie 13 Years Old 46% vol. 0.7 l

The 13-year-old Craigellachie is still distilled using traditional copper worm tubs. It matures for 13 years in American Oak casks. It then receives a finish in equal parts in first-fill Bourbon and first-fill Sherry casks and is bottled at 46% vol. without chill filtration and without coloring.

Tasting Notes:

Nose: Rich, complex fruits; apples, pears and apricots with honey, grassy malt and vanilla cream. Hints of cinnamon and sugary sweetness in the background. Adding a little water reveals aromas of butterscotch and peaty, sulphurous earth. Multi-layered and enjoyable.

Taste: Rich and complex fruity with a charred, woody touch. Glazed honey with a slight nutty hint. Reminiscent of honey-coated, roasted nuts with hints of burnt toffee. Malt, smoke, vanilla and cinnamon play a well-supporting role. A splash of water brings out additional notes of wood, malt and earth.

Finish: Long-lasting with big notes of fruit, charcoal and vanilla. These transition to malt, earth and apricots. Balance, Body & Feel: Of excellent balance. I like the way the earthy and sweet notes play together. Of thick, full body with velvety-soft texture and a very opulent overall impression.
