Amber Rock stands for amber colors - exactly the color in which the whisky presents itself. The Cardhu matured in toasted oak barrels and ex-bourbon barrels.

Tasting 1

Eye: Lively, pure amber. Nose: Sweet, powerful and lively with fresh pear and lychee on buttery, pastry-like aromas. Muted hints of citrus and sweet tangerines unfold with lemon balm and old-fashioned lemonade. Softening with rich, smooth notes of syrup and malt with sweet toffee, honey and barley sugar. Fragrant vanilla and toasted marshmallows with apples and pears in syrup, spiced with clove and deepening with creamy, white chocolate and almonds. Palate: Sweet and spicy with fresh fruit salad with pears and sweet apples in lemon juice with a splash of cream on freshly toasted oak. Drying with muted notes of spicy mandarin. Soft and smooth with fruit syrup on the mid-palate. In the background grassiness and toasted oak with smooth marshmallows, creamy milk chocolate and vanilla. Eye: As amber as its name suggests. Nose: Butter, honey, oak, orange peel, vanilla pods and cinnamon - very vibrant, but harmonious between sticky-sweet and spicy citrus. Beautifully complex. With added water: Sharper with red fruits. Palate: Mild with toffee and nut in the foreground and a grassy wave and light tannins in the background. Coffee and orange. Brown sugar and slightly less vanilla than the aromas suggest. Plus red fruits. With added water more orange notes and less bitter grassiness, softening with peppery hints without losing contour.
