The Caol Ila Distillery is located in the northeast of the Scottish island of Islay, in a picturesque location above the "Sound of Islay", and was founded back in 1846.
The name "Caol Ila" is derived from the Gaelic term for "narrow strait" - a reference to the beauty and originality of the surroundings.
This 12-year-old bottling matured in ex-Bourbon casks and shows the typical interplay of maritime freshness and warehouse peat smoke that makes Islay whisky so popular.
It has 43% vol. alcohol content and is clearly presented in the standard 0.7 l bottle.
Tasting Notes:

Aroma: Fresh citrus zest (lemon peel), green apples, sea salt, light peat smoke and a hint of menthol.

Taste: Sweet vanilla notes at the beginning, accompanied by salty sea air, malt and smoky depth - well balanced.

Finish: Medium to long, with persistent smoke and flint, as well as woody notes - elegant and not overwhelming.
