Glen Elgin is a traditional Speyside distillery, known since 1898 for its balanced and velvety-fruity single malts. Typical characteristics include soft aromas of green apple, vanilla, and subtle spices. Under the independent bottler Cadenhead’s, the whisky receives a characterful second finish that underscores its complexity.

This 12-year-old Glen Elgin initially matured in carefully selected ex-Bourbon or ex-Sherry casks. In 2023, it underwent a finish in former Palo Cortado sherry casks. Palo Cortado is a rare sherry variety that combines characteristics of Oloroso and Amontillado – powerful, dry, and nutty.

Tasting Notes:

Aroma: Fine almonds, roasted hazelnuts, sherry character, delicate honey notes, and hints of apricot and bread crust.

Taste: Smooth and full-bodied with dried fruits, toffee, nutty spice, creamy vanilla finish, and a subtle hint of toasted oak.

Finish: Long-lasting and warm with nutty depth, light dried fruit sweetness, and a persistent hint of sherry spice.
