Cadenhead's Auchroisk 14 Year Old - Mazanilla Finish 2023 46% vol. 0.7l

Auchroisk is a malt-oriented distillery in the Speyside region of Scotland, founded in 1972. It produces elegant and fruit-driven single malts. Under the independent bottler Cadenhead's, the casks receive a second finish that uniquely complements the distillery's character.

This 14-year-old Auchroisk received a finish in former Manzanilla casks – a special type of sherry from Sanlúcar de Barrameda in Spain. After initial maturation in ex-bourbon or ex-sherry casks, the whisky was transferred to Manzanilla casks for several months. This Spanish variant of sherry brings a fine, salty, and slightly floral influence to the whisky. Bottled in 2023, with an alcohol content of 46% vol.

Tasting Notes:

Nose: Fresh green apples, light sea salt notes, almonds, fine citrus freshness, and blossom honey.

Palate: Dried fruit with notes of pear, nutty marzipan, subtly salty sherry, vanilla, and brioche.

Finish: Medium length, with delicate dried fruit sweetness, flor accents, and a hint of sea salt – pleasantly fresh and balanced.
