The 10-year-old Benromach matures for 9 years in Bourbon (80 percent) and Sherry (20 percent) casks. For its final maturation, it undergoes a one-year finishing in casks that previously matured a sweet Oloroso Sherry.
Tasting
Nose: Thick, oily and creamy. Brine, stewed ham, woody, campfire, lots of smoked cheese, dried apricots, fresh pasta. Palate: Woody (like in a sauna), apricot, raisins and lots of BBQ notes. Coffee and toffee with a gentle smoke in the background. With water it becomes much softer, but also less deep. Finish: Earthy peatiness and smoke at the end. Royal Miles Whiskies
