The Ardnahoe Distillery is the youngest distillery on the Scottish island of Islay. It was founded in 2018 by Hunter Laing and is picturesquely situated between the well-known distilleries Caol Ila and Bunnahabhain. Ardnahoe relies on traditional methods such as worm tub condensers, which give the whisky more depth and complexity. The distillery is known for its fresh, peaty style with a clear Islay character.
The Ardnahoe Bholsa is a limited bottling with 50% abv. It matured in a combination of ex-Bourbon and Sherry casks. These casks give the whisky both sweet and spicy aromas. The maturation beautifully highlights the typical Ardnahoe style – fresh, smoky, and balanced.
Tasting Notes:
Aroma: Gentle peat smoke, accompanied by vanilla, honey, and a hint of dried fruits.
Taste: Full-bodied and harmonious. Notes of caramel, toasted nuts, sea salt, and a light citrus freshness.
Finish: Medium to long. Smoky and spicy with a sweet aftertaste and a hint of oak.
