The Aberlour A'bunadh is one of the most famous and powerful bottlings from the Speyside distillery Aberlour. The name A'bunadh comes from Gaelic and means "origin". The bottling is based on the traditional style of the distillery and is bottled at cask strength, unfiltered, and without artificial coloring, making the whisky particularly intense and aromatic.
The Aberlour A'bunadh matures exclusively in Spanish Oloroso sherry casks made of European oak. This cask maturation gives the whisky its deep, dark color and a rich aroma profile of fruit, spices, and chocolate. Each batch is composed slightly differently, giving each bottling its own unique character.
Nose: Intense sherry notes with dark dried fruits, raisins, cherries, cinnamon, dark chocolate, and roasted nuts.
Palate: Powerful and full-bodied with flavors of plums, toffee, spices, dark chocolate, orange, and rich sherry sweetness.
Finish: Long, warm, and complex with spicy oak, dark fruit, and lingering sweetness.
