Since 1934, this whisky has been distilled on the island of Hokkaido in Yoichi, a good 60 km west of Sapporo and 600 meters from the coast. In addition to whisky from the Yoichi Distillery, whisky from the Miyagikyo Distillery is also used for Nikka from The Barrel.
Nikka From The Barrel is a blend of single malt and single grain whisky. After blending, the whisky matures together in casks for some time and is then bottled directly at 51.4% vol.
Tasting Notes
Nose: Very fruity and spicy with a hint of orange.
Taste: Quite complex with notes of oak, honey and spices.
Finish: Long finish with delicate vanilla and oak.
