The Mortlach 14 Year Old is a complex single malt whisky dedicated to Alexander Cowie, the founder of the famous 2.81 distillation process. This special single malt from the Mortlach distillery matures for 14 years in former Bourbon and Sherry casks, giving it an exceptional balance and depth.
With an alcohol content of 43.4% Vol., the Mortlach 14 Year Old unfolds its multifaceted aromas and delights with a harmonious interplay of fruity and spicy notes. A whisky that not only impresses connoisseurs, but also impressively embodies the spirit and tradition of the Mortlach distillery.
Tasting Notes
Nose: The nose is seduced by exotic spices such as cloves and nutmeg, accompanied by ripe orchard fruits, soft vanilla, and spicy cedar wood.
Palate: Full-bodied and spicy-sweet on the tongue. Fruity notes of juicy oranges and apricots meet creamy vanilla and spicy oak, making the whisky particularly mouth-filling and almost meaty.
Finish: Long and spicy-sweet, rounded off with milk chocolate, red berries, and dry tannins, which provide a powerful finish.
