The Glasgow Distillery Company has a long and eventful history. Founded in 1770, it was one of the first licensed distilleries in Scotland and significantly shaped the development of Scotch whisky. After a chequered past with ups and downs, the distillery reopened in 2014 and has since built upon its rich tradition.

The 1770 Glasgow Peated Rich & Smoky Single Malt Whisky is a powerful and smoky representative of the distillery. The use of heavily peated barley malt gives this whisky its unmistakably intense character and complex smoke notes. It matured in Virgin Oak casks and received its finish in PX Sherry Casks.

Tasting Notes:

Aroma: Upon opening the bottle, a powerful bouquet of peat smoke unfolds, paired with notes of campfire and ash. Subtle hints of iodine and seaweed lend a maritime freshness to the aroma, while a touch of leather and spices provides additional depth.

Taste: On the palate, it presents itself as intense and full-bodied. The peat smoke initially dominates, combining with notes of smoked ham and charcoal. A subtle sweetness of caramel and dark chocolate balances the smoky aromas and gives the whisky a pleasant complexity.

Finish: The finish is long-lasting and warming. The smoke notes remain present and combine with a hint of oak and spices like pepper and cloves. A subtle touch of leather and tobacco rounds off the tasting experience and leaves a lasting impression.
