The peated, smoky whisky is distilled annually during a single week, known as Peat Week.\n\u003cbr\u003e\n\u003cbr\u003e\nMaturation took place entirely in American oak casks before this Balvenie Peat Week was bottled at 48.3% ABV after more than 14 years. \u003c\/p\u003e\n\u003cbr\u003e\n\u003cbr\u003e\n\n\u003ch3\u003eThe Distillery\u003c\/h3\u003e\n\n\n\u003cp\u003eOn May 1, 1893, the first freshly distilled new make left the \"second-hand\" stills of The Balvenie Distillery. The distillery was built a year earlier. It is located not far from the Glenfiddich Distillery, which, like Balvenie, was founded by William Grant. The stills installed when the distillery was built originally came from the whisky distilleries Glen Albyn, located in Inverness, and Lagavulin on Islay. For many years, The Balvenie whisky was only used for the production of blends.
