The company is one of the four largest independent bottlers of Scotch whisky. \"Independent\" means that they are not limited to releases from their own distillery. Nevertheless, one distillery belongs to Ian McLeod Distillers. In 2003, the Glengoyne Distillery in the Highlands was acquired by the bottler. In 2011, the Tamdhu Distillery in Knockando was also acquired. It had been shut down a year earlier.
