Whisky has been produced there on the shores of Loch Indaal since 1881. Both American and European oak casks were used for the Laddie Eight. It was bottled very confidently at 50% ABV, which is intended to encourage the development of the aromas. Bruichladdich Distillery is known for its experimental spirit, as in addition to Bruichladdich and Laddie whisky, the Port Charlotte and Octomore brands are also produced there. This reveals the distillery's broad portfolio. They also experiment with other spirits, such as Botanist Gin.

The Youthful Freshness of the Laddie Eight

Tasting 1

Character: An elegant expression of the Bruichladdich style. Super fruity and full of Atlantic freshness. Color: Lemon marmalade. Nose: Initially, the aromas show fresh fruits, typical apples, and slightly unripe pears, which are so characteristic of our drams. In the next wave, pear drops, apricot, and pineapple in fruity syrup are revealed. Behind this, there is vanilla-like oak, wrapped in malt sugar with a hint of straw. After the glass has warmed up a bit in the hand, the floral notes of gorse and honeysuckle emerge. The longer the whisky can breathe, the more there is to discover in the nose. Palate: Spicy notes clear the way for sweetness, as a peppery taste on the lips transforms into mango and peach. Layer by layer, the different casks used for this dram release vanilla, lemon, honey, and toffee, creating a creamy texture and a buttery mouthfeel. With the second sip, fruits, raspberries and strawberries, plus a hint of citrus and orange marmalade appear. The complexity is a true delight, as each type of toasting and charring of the casks plays its own role and provides a deep taste that one eagerly wants to discover. This dram is at once lively, deep, and velvety, while the typical Bruichladdich DNA full of soft fruits and floral elegance blends with exotic fruits derived from the multitude of wonderful casks. The quality of our Scottish malt is evident when the sweet malt sugar combines all the fruits and oak notes in wonderful harmony. Finish: The fresh sea breeze, sweet floral heather honey, and citrus notes bring this dram to its end. But as is typical for a farewell on the Scottish islands, it's not a goodbye-and-gone: there are always one or two more words to say, while the finish lingers into the night, leaving a vanilla note that never seems to disappear. Tasting Notes by Bruichladdich

Tasting 2

Nose: The nose is sweet, fresh and fruity with tropical fruits, cherry clafoutis, pear drops as well as the aromas of pastries, such as croissants and orange juice. Palate: On the palate, the oak notes are more pronounced, as are summer berries, vanilla, grapefruit and a sharp Tabasco note. Exactly the dram that would be perfect for a summer evening alongside a fresh fruit salad or a raspberry sorbet. Tasting Notes by Anne-Sophie Bigot for distiller.com

Tasting 3

Colour: Between light gold and yellow gold. Nose: Fresh, grassy, coastal. Green apples. Mangoes. A splash of grapefruit. Soft goat cheese. Pancakes. Hayloft in spring. Black olives in brine. Blossom honey. Dough? Hoppy. A spring breeze of a whisky. Palate: Very similar to the nose, but livelier and more entertaining than expected. Very mineral. In fact, my first thought is that wine drinkers would love it. Grapefruit and apples, all mixed with honey. Spicy, a dynamic yeasty hiss – like champagne. Grassy again, like an Aultmore with more honey. Many wood notes make it a lively companion. Tasting Notes by malt-review.com

Distributor: Kirsch Import e.K., Mackenstedter Str. 7, 28816 Stuhr

Storage instructions: Store in a cool, dry place away from sunlight

No sale of alcohol to persons under 18 years of age!
