It is often referred to as the Queen of the Scottish Whisky Isles and is the most popular among them. The Isle of Islay is part of an archipelago west of Scotland, known as the Hebrides. Islay is the most fertile of these islands. The largest town is Bowmore, with just under 900 inhabitants. In total, only about 3,500 people live on the island.
